   At present, there are two rows of shops in the north of Islip town centre, separated by the main road. A large residential area occupies much of the central and southern parts of it, with a park to the east and a school to the southwest. There is also countryside to the north of the shops.
   According to the second map, the countryside and the northern row of shops will be replaced by a bus station, a shopping centre, a car park and new housing. The existing main road will be converted into a pedestrian street, while the southern row of shops will remain unchanged. Part of the existing residential area will be redeveloped to accommodate new housing, while the park will be reduced in size. Most of Islip town centre will be surrounded by a new dual carriageway, while the school and some residential areas will remain outside it.
   Overall, the town centre will change extensively, particularly in terms of transport, commercial and housing facilities, while the school and the southern row of shops will remain unchanged.
